    The Cure
from Neil Elliott (BBC Enquiries Team):
I’ve been looking into this and I believe that there was a session with The Cure recorded on 26th August 1983 at BBC Maida Vale studio which was broadcast on Radio 1 on 1st September 1983, however, this seemed to be for David Jensen rather than Richard Skinner.
As you say, the set list was ‘The Lovecats’, ‘Mr Pink Eyes’ and ‘Speak My Language’.
    from Steve:
The BBC dude says he "believes" there was a session but that it was for Kid Jensen.
But there were no The Cure session on Kid Jensen's show in 83.
The Richard Skinner Lovecats/ Speak My Language/ Mr Pink Eyes "session" is most certainly from Skinner's show because you can hear his voice introducing the songs (Jensen is Canadian). But it's not a "session". It's just the single tracks probably from the promo discs sent out to radio stations.
In 1984, Skinner did have them in session with tracks from The Top.

In summary. This 1983 "session" was on Richard Skinner's Round Table Show on Radio 1. It was not on FM, but AM* & was just a preview of the new single & not a session. :)

*Radio 1 didn't get a permanent FM frequency until the late 80's. They used to use Radio 2's transmitters late at night in the week (which is why Peel was on FM) & part of the weekends.
